Today the ‘Confabitare’, the association for Italian property owners, tried to urge the political leadership in Italy to do more, in policy terms, to represent its citizens. This is because following the reading of the draft legislative decree on land registry reform, approved by the Council of Ministers on the 20th of June; it is clear how the policy suits the logic of government departments that safeguard themselves and not the citizens. The role reversal has created tremendous problems in recent years in the area of real estate and construction; ‘Confabitare strongly supports the role of politics in the area of social representation and as a service to citizens’.
So yesterday the president of Confabitare, Alberto Zanni, together with a delegation of property owners, met with the Senate Finance Committee to discuss land registry reform. The association is very critical of the land registry reforms as they are going to affect many Italians (82% of families live in a property that is owner occupied). Zanni concluded by saying;
