There are an increasing number of foreigners who are choosing more luxurious residences in Italy for their holiday rental. Despite the economic crisis, there are still a great number of foreign visitors who want to spend some time in Italy with all the charm, history and culture that the country has to offer. It is for this reason that the demand for farmhouses and luxury villas in the countryside continues to rise. Among the most popular destinations are Puglia and Sardinia along with central and northern Italy, especially Tuscany, Umbria and Trentino Alto Adige. On average foreign visitors stay for about ten nights. For those wanting to stay longer there is an increasing interest and uptake in, for example, house sitting or ‘care and maintenance’ services where you look after a farmhouse that is for sale. This can be a perfect solution for all the parties concerned. First, the guest can stay, at little cost, in one area for a long period of time in a wonderful and charming farmhouse or villa. Second, the owner (often foreign), is safe in the knowledge that their property is being looked after and
maintained during the important sale period when potential buyers will be visiting the property. Whichever way people choose to visit Italy, with its special and unique charm, it continues to be one of the top destinations for foreign clients who are looking to rent or purchase a property.
