David Gerstein, one of Great Estate’s top clients, brings Umbria to New York: on 4 September, he opens the exhibition ‘Umbria’, inspired by the landscapes he has chosen as his home.
There are artists capable of transforming the places they inhabit into inexhaustible sources of beauty. David Gerstein, one of the best-known and most celebrated protagonists of international contemporary art, is one of them. Of Polish origin, born in Israel, citizen of the world by vocation, Gerstein has chosen Umbria as his home and the cradle of his creative inspiration.

Thanks to the support of consultants Roberto Biggera and Ilaria Peparaio, in the summer of 2024, the artist and his partner Mikhal Yahalomi purchased Villa Collelungo, an authentic gem in the heart of the Monteleone di Orvieto countryside.
An expertly restored residence, the result of the four-handed work of architect Federico Peparaio of the Arch-è studio, partner in the Great Synergy network, and Ilaria Peparaio, interior designer and Great Estate real estate consultant.
A restoration that has given new life and harmony to this special place, which David Gerstein has then made even more intimate and personal: the old portico has been transformed into his creative studio, the space where, on his return from each trip, his inexhaustible artistic energy takes shape.
It was here, immersed in the soft, luminous landscapes of Umbria, that Gerstein found the spark for a new phase of his production. Undulating hills, timeless villages, and the iridescent light of the Umbrian countryside have become the protagonists of his canvases and wall sculptures. Umbria is no longer just his home, but also the muse that nourishes his art.
This deep connection with the Italian region will come to life in an exceptional showcase: on 4 September 2025, Gerstein’s solo exhibition with the evocative title “UMBRIA” will open at the AP SPACE in New York. Two exhibition spaces will host works that celebrate colour, movement and all those little everyday joys that can brighten up life.
Through his new creations dedicated to Umbria, Gerstein not only brings his artistic language to New York, but also brings a fragment of this land with him, making it known to the world as a source of emotion, harmony and happiness.
With his vision, Gerstein once again demonstrates how art can be a bridge between cultures and landscapes, and how a territory – Umbria – can shine and tell its story through the gaze and sensitivity of an artist who lives of light, colour and poetry.
