Describing it as a rare gem not to be missed, the most important newspapers of the world acclaimed this area. The last one which did so, the National Geographic “Traveller”.

With a view to next summer holidays, many are the world’s magazines, newspapers and information websites which, as real “ideal-holiday vademecum”, are proposing a dream location to their readers where to spend their summer break. If some of this destinations are almost obvious, others have been selected because considered hidden treasures to be seen at least once in life.

This is the case of the famous National Geographic Traveler magazine which, among its English May issue proposals, chose the Trasimeno Lake and its “villages”, i.e. the eight municipalities on its shores. A long and deep reportage which varies from art to handcraft, history, food and traditional products.

Trasimeno Lake has been chosen by several tourism magazines of the world already. In 2014, by describing it as “one of the Italian hidden treasures”, the New York Times identified this lake as one of the unmissable destination to be included into a short Umbrian tour (read the article here). Last year, instead, The Guardian entered it among the 20 European lake and mountains top destinations, on par with “famous” locations as Georgia, Caucasus mountains, Annecy – France, Country Cork – Ireland, etc. (read the article).

In 2018, the Telegraph defined it as “one of the most beautiful Italian lake which you probably have never heard nothing before” (read the article). Elle has recently published a long and romantic reportage about the Lake and its towns by tracking an ideal path: from Castiglione Del Lago to Tuoro, Passignano Sul Trasimeno, the Polvese Island, San Feliciano, Panicale and Castiglione again (read it here).

Not only the international press, but also the Italian one loves this area too. From La Stampa which, with its fil rouge, connected this places to the prehistory, to La Repubblica that focused on the local tastes mainly. TGCom24 dedicated a piece to Umbria and the Trasimeno Lake, while DOVE told about fishing and the great the lake fishermen tradition.

So, a rich press review for the Trasimeno area which confirms itself as one of the most requested Italian destination. It gives to the tourist something new to explore, perfect to live a 360° experience of Italy.
