Swimming pools now cleaned with moss eco sustainability

The news came, only a few days ago, when a famous company leader in this industry unveiled its new filter, Pool Moss, a completely natural way to purify the water in swimming pools using a particular moss as a filtering system.

The scientific name is Sphagnum Moss, a natural moss that possesses bacterial properties, discovered by David Knigthon, vascular surgeon and cell biologist. He first realized its potential use in the field, observing the clear waters of the Minnesota lakes.

The first swimming pool to be cleaned with Sphagnum Moss, after a number of lab tests, was the Barcelona swimming pool, where the World Swimming Championships in 2013 were held. This particular moss is able to reduce the organic contamination of bacteria, which helps to bind the metals present in the water and, at the same time, it buffers the pH level. Doing so, it can bring remarkable results starting from the lower presence of chlorine and pH, to the minor scale and corrosion. This will give the clearest water to swimming pools with much less maintenance, not to mention the ecological aspect: less waste water.

The amount of Moss used, later immersed into an appropriate container, depends on the capacity of the swimming pool.
