According to the findings of the survey carried out by Enit’s study office on tourism trends, in the period between 15 May and 6 June 2021 Umbria was the first Italian region to be clicked on on Google when searching for locations to spend the next summer holidays in the Bel Paese, with a full score of one hundred out of one hundred.

In fact, holiday searches by region carried out on Google see Umbria in first place with the highest score, followed by Campania (91%), Lombardy (at 71%), Piedmont (at 70%) and, step by step, the Marches, Valle d’Aosta, Tuscany and Apulia tied (with 63%), Emila Romagna and Lazio (with 62%) Liguria and Veneto with 55%.

This result, which, after the stop to tourism imposed by the pandemic, is undoubtedly very positive and encouraging, is complemented by the findings of a study on the state of the real estate market in the areas around Lake Trasimeno carried out by the Committee for the listing of the Real Estate Exchange.

In the basin of the Umbrian lake, there was a 15% increase in the number of enquiries for the purchase of real estate, both from international and Italian clients residing in regions close to Umbria.

The greatest demand is for detached houses with large private outdoor spaces, situated in a panoramic location, in the countryside as well as in the small towns and villages near Lake Trasimeno: Castiglione Del Lago, Passignano Sul Trasimeno, and Panicale, to name but a few.

Truly a great achievement for one of Italy’s best-loved regions, which offers an excellent quality of life, beautiful outdoor spaces, art, good food and wine, as well as beautiful countryside and quaint villages.

Perhaps this is why Umbria has long been not only frequented but also inhabited by many VIPs. The Corriere Della Sera has published an article by Stefano Landi in which he mentions the many VIPs who have chosen Umbria as a temporary, “intermittent” or even permanent destination:

Playing hide-and-seek in Umbria: from Lady Gaga to Colin Firth (via Prime Minister Draghi), the new paradise next door

Umbria is, therefore, a popular and much sought-after destination, nationally and, above all, internationally.

The confirmation comes from the numerous sales made in this region by the Great Estate Network that, with its offices in Orvieto, Perugia, Todi, Spoleto, Città Della Pieve and in the areas of Lake Trasimeno, has been present and active for over twenty years throughout the Umbrian territory (in this regard, read here the interview to the CEO of Great Estate, Stefano Petri, published last January by Corriere Dell’Umbria).

We have carried out an interesting analysis of the Network sales in Umbria from 1 June 2020 to 1 June 2021. Do you want to discover it? Then keep following the Great Estate Magazine!
